We are therefore leaving Stykkishólmur to reach the westernmost tip of Iceland at Látrabjarg. As the crow flies, a hundred kilometers are enough to cross Breiðafjörður bay, but by car... 350 km! But what landscapes, as we enter the Vestfirðir region where fjords reign supreme.
Álftafjörður Fjord
In the background of the photo, Stykkishólmur is recognizable by its all-white church
On the left, a typical Icelandic landscape.
On the right, much less typical! A herd of cows!
Jón Jónsson, Icelandic singer and poet (28-3-1914 / 7-10-1945).
As for mammals, sheep and horses are often seen in Iceland. As for birds, it's whooper swans (Cygnus cygnus)!
Woolly willow (Salix lanata)
And hop, picnic in front of yet another waterfall
Sculpture in Kleifabúi made by the workers who built the road
The wreck of the Garðar BA 64
The small airport of Patreksfjörður
Superb beach near the town of Hnjótur
Some "oldies" from the museum near the town of Hnjótur
A Douglas c-117d
plane
And here we are finally in the Látrabjarg region where the famous puffins await us!
