Guatemala 2018

Back to Central America for this year 2018! 5 years after Costa Rica, here I am again with my 2 travel companions on the green lands connecting the two Americas. Guatemala has a little something extra compared to its neighbors: its active volcanoes! With a bit of luck, we might even witness some eruptions, or perhaps get close to its flowing lava... Suspense!  

To discover the different sites and maintain maximum freedom, we plan to rent a car that will take us all around the country. Thus, a Kia Sportage will await us in Antigua the day after our arrival and we will return it to Guatemala City airport on the day of our departure 4 weeks later!

But our car won't be driven every day! Indeed, we will put our legs to full use on a 5-day trek deep in the jungle towards the Mayan ruins of the very isolated "Mirador". Similarly, we will leave our vehicle for a few days to reach Livingston, accessible only by boat on the Pacific coast.
