Iceland 2011

Welcome to my Iceland page! This island, straddling the American and European continental plates, is nothing but a mass of volcanoes! Between magma, fumaroles, geothermics, everything reminds us of the country's origin. We are also at latitudes where, in June, the day never ends... For 17 days, we will not have a dark night, the sun barely disappearing behind the horizon.

Another peculiarity of Iceland, an isolated country between the Atlantic and Arctic oceans, is its alphabet! On this site, you will be confronted with the terrible words Breiðafjörður, Viðimyrarkirkja and other Þingvellir...

For info, "þ" is pronounced "th" as in English, "ð" is pronounced "z", "ö" is pronounced "eu" and.... I'll stop there, there are too many! (good luck!). 

Well, all that won't stop us and we're off, three of us in a 4x4, to tour the country clockwise. Let's go!
