Andalusia 2020

Sierra de Aracena

Cortelazor

Morning hike in the Sierra de Aracena, the second largest natural park in Andalusia. The starting point of our two and a half hour loop is located in this small village of Cortelazor. We have never been so close to Portugal whose border is located 35 kilometers from here!

"The presence of numerous oaks allowed the development of extensive breeding of Iberian pigs, from which are drawn the Iberian hams of Jabugo, recognized worldwide" © Wikipedia And indeed, we will cross some pigs enjoying their fresh air and the many acorns available...

The little "historical" curiosity of the course... At this place, a man was devoured by a wolf"! Yes ladies and gentlemen...;

This sign is proof of it! At least it confirms the legend.

From time to time, geocaching reminds us and after finding the small box accompanied by a small wooden truck, we obviously add a mask, Covid Time obliges! (and incidentally the QR Code of my site)

The village of El Barrial La Joya that we will cross later.

Ha, again we cross the road of a breeding farm from which this specimen (Sus scrofa domesticus by its Latin name) moved away in case the acorns would be a little tastier in the area...

Aracena

Lunch break at the restaurant "Puerta 20" in the city of Aracena (late lunch because it is 3 PM but we are in Spain so everything is fine!). And we fully enjoy the specialties of the region with its ham obviously! Accompanied by artichokes as far as I am concerned!

And we leave this charming town to reach, 200 km away, another much larger city since it is Cordoba!
