Grenadines 2018

Return to Martinique

Early departure at 6 am for our last day on Magix. 11 hours of navigation await us to reach Grande Anse d'Arlet!

Magix sails straight on the calm waters of the Caribbean, under the watchful eye of Jules.

The calm waters become a little agitated, accompanied by the arrival of clouds...

The rain invites itself, but, courteous, does not prolong its visit...

Past 10 am, it's time for a little snack with some sardines and other pâtés.

Come on, it is high time for you to embark on Magix! Let yourself be led by Jules and Thierry, and thus well settled in your armchair, the swell will have no effect on you!

We are approaching the large island of Martinique. To the east, the rock called "le Diamant" sparkles with a beautiful rainbow as a sign of welcome.

Grande Anse d'Arlet

We are approaching the port of Grande Anse d'Arlet, the time for separation is fast approaching...

Carole, Christophe and I are going to reach dry land and we will have to leave Véronique, Thierry and Jules to spend the night in the port. But phew! We decide to postpone the farewells until the next day! We will come back one last time tomorrow noon for lunch on Magix!

The solar disk invites itself to close this last day. Tonight, we join our gite already booked in Petite Anse d'Arlet where we will stay for the next three days.

This morning, short walk to the point of "Diamant" located 3 kilometers away. Yes, traveling from point A to point B with your own feet will make us forget the last 7 days gliding well settled on Magix...

The Diamond Rock

The Diamond rock, remnant of the volcanic era, is 175 meters high.

And here we are back in Petite Anse d'Arlet! And hop, Jules is at the controls of the tender and is already coming to pick us up. We won't wait any longer to tread the deck of Magix again!

And during lunch, we see clearly that we are not going to manage to leave each other for good... So, it's decided, we will accompany Magix one last time to Le Marin, the largest marina in Martinique located at the very south of the island, where Magix must fill its tanks. And never mind that we will have to redo 36 kilometers by road to retrace our steps, we will solve this problem later!

Little burst of speed! Magix wants to impress us one last time!

But the most impressive will still remain Jules, skipper of Magix for life!   Even if in a few months, he will sail on his own boat to travel the world!

And he well deserved that I make a video just for him, which I soberly called "Jules: Caribbean' Skipper".

And here is the real last sunset that we will experience on Magix.

We arrive at the mouth of Le Marin.

Magix is moored. This time, the farewells are final.   But phew, we will meet again soon in France!

And to do the 36 kilometers to return to our accommodation, we are going to struggle a bit! We will hitchhike, but we won't be very efficient... We will have to walk! 2 kilometers at the start, and 3 kilometers to finish!   Fortunately, in between, a nice gentleman will take us in his car! phew.
