El Valle de los Caidos was built under the reign of the dictator Franco by prisoners of the Spanish Civil War. Many of them died during this forced labor. Under the huge 150-meter high cross, the basilica carved into the mountain itself will impress you with its disproportion. It is in the choir of this basilica that Franco is buried.
