Luxor Temple of Amun

This temple is a "dependency" of the temple of Karnak located 3 km to the north. It is also dedicated to the God Amun and dates from 1400 BC. In front of the pylon, stands an obelisk, the twin brother of the one on the Place de la Concorde in Paris of which the base still remains. They were erected under Ramses II. Note that the obelisk is simply placed on its base, assembly extremely difficult to achieve, and yet 3400 years have not made it waver!!
