The dams of Aswan
After Philae, we quickly go to take a look at the two Aswan dams. The first, more modest, was inaugurated in 1902 and the second, colossal, in 1971. The latter generated many upheavals (positive and negative) in Egypt and Sudan. Among others, the artificial Lake Nasser, the regulation of the Nile floods, the rescues of all the temples of ancient Egypt in the region and, more cruel, the displacement of Nubian villages.
In a felucca on the Nile
In the afternoon, we leave to visit a Nubian village displaced by the construction of the Aswan High Dam. We go there enjoying once again a very beautiful navigation in the middle of superb Nubian landscapes.
Nubian village
We enjoy the hospitality of the Nubians who make us taste some specialties. Exchange of good practices, we can buy some Nubian souvenirs.
I take a little getaway alone to find a small piece of Saharan desert to take back to France. Considering the footprints, I'm not the first. Sniff...
