Kampong Khleang

Kampong Khleang

A 40-minute drive from Prasat Beng Mealea, we arrive at Kampong Khleang, a typical stilt village on the shores of Tonlé Sap Lake.

The four of us embark on a small boat with the pilot and his colleague for 90 minutes of navigation.

Many nets hanging from the houses. Fishing is obviously the main activity of the village.

In addition to fishing, another important activity is the collection of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), a very invasive aquatic plant with ultra-fast growth, capable of exceeding 2 meters per day!

Back on dry land. We head to Siem Reap and on the way, we make a small stop by the roadside in front of a "bamboo-cake" seller! Very good for satisfying a small hunger, this bamboo heated over a fire is filled with sticky rice, black beans, and coconut milk.

End of the day in the very, very touristy "Pub street", this is where you should come if you want some entertainment...
