Iguazu - Hummingbirds

Here we are at the last stop before returning to Buenos Aires: PUERTO IGUAZU, located a few kilometers from Brazil!

It's the last time we can go camping, so we choose to pitch the tents at the Viejo Americano campsite.

Puerto Iguazu

Puerto Iguazu Campsite

Alas, the first night was very short and I spent it in the car!
The weather being stormy, the heat was suffocating and sleeping in the tents was a real ordeal... The rain adding up, and me being a bit under the weather, we decamp to the "El Guembe Hostel House" to pass the next 2 nights.

Los picaflores (The Hummingbirds)

To enjoy this calm afternoon, we go to see the hummingbirds, in "the garden of the hummingbirds" at Mrs. Marilene Mosquen's place!!!

These hummingbirds or 'picaflores' are visible in a private garden where, to attract them, the owner has hung 'nectar' dispensers.

They do not nest in this garden but simply come to feed there.

Very precise, it is capable of hovering and diving its tongue into the nectar tube.

Hummingbirds are the only birds capable of flying backwards.

A bit further, a siren sounded... Ha no!!! Those are Red-rumped Caciques (Cacicus haemorrhous) singing!!!
Yellow beak and blue eye, they are here in this palm tree where they built their nests

Hito tres fronteras

Finally, we go to the three frontiers landmark (hito tres fronteras), from where the 3 countries that are Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay are visible.
