The church Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes
The first foundations of the church date back to the 16th century when it must not have really looked like its current appearance because it was made of wood and straw, and the tower did not exist.
This tower, we will enter it to have a nice view of the roofs of the city.
The cross "Cruz del Siglo" set up for the jubilee of the year 2000.
Seen on the roof of the church, and on the competition with the all-blue chapel Maria Auxiliadora and the Xalteva church with the bell tower of really baroque style.
The Monseñor Mejia Vílchez bell, one of the restorers of the church. And obviously, we will have to think about restoring his bell...
1821 marks the independence of Central America from colonial Spain where the countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica formed the Federation of the United Provinces of Central America.
The church is dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, an important religious and cultural symbol in Mexico. According to Catholic tradition, she appeared to an indigenous man named Juan Diego in 1531 near Mexico City.
