Program of the day: walks in Granada, the coastal city of the huge Lake Nicaragua.

The different colors of each house are typical of the Spanish colonial style.

Carriages to visit the city... We will stay on foot.  

The first foundations of the church date back to the 16th century when it must not have really looked like its current appearance because it was made of wood and straw, and the tower did not exist.

This tower, we will enter it to have a nice view of the roofs of the city.

1821 marks the independence of Central America from colonial Spain where the countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica formed the Federation of the United Provinces of Central America.

The church Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

The church is dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe, an important religious and cultural symbol in Mexico. According to Catholic tradition, she appeared to an indigenous man named Juan Diego in 1531 near Mexico City.

We pass south of the city on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, near the Isletas.

This lake is immense, it is the size of Corsica, it represents 7% of the surface of the country!
