And here we are, after a half-hour walk, the Sun takes its place above the Himalayan range.

Rohit and one of his friends are accompanying us.

We hit the road again amidst the superb landscapes of Singalila National Park.

Not many people, we still come across a few goats and cows here and there

I wasn't sure at the time, but it was indeed my first glimpse of Everest! (the 2nd peak from the right)

New military post on the border between Nepal and India. And yes, we navigate between the two countries as the road winds.

A short stop for coffee. The little furry guardian of the place lets us pass without a problem

This time, it's not a border post but a "water point" for marathon runners of the "Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race 2012" (160.93 kilometers...)

Oh darn, I thought you couldn't come here by car! It certainly makes them laugh...

Here's the typical path we often took during this trek... Nothing but stones! Nothing flat... Pffff, tough going. Not to mention the altitude, we are at about 3000 meters above sea level, and my lungs don't have all the necessary oxygen...

It's only noon and the day's walk is already over! And that suits me just fine!  

And we're going to be able to taste a Tibetan culinary specialty: momo! I loved this dish, but alas, we won't have any as good for the rest of the trip...

Momo is a dumpling lightly cooked in water and stuffed with onions or vegetables.

The "pilfering" in the cupboard knows no bounds
